ICSID Rules in Favor of Mabetex Group in the “Grand Hotel Case”

INLEX Law Firm represented Mabco Construction in the successful resolution of the “Grand Hotel Case” before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), bringing closure to a dispute that lasted nearly two decades.

In its decision, the ICSID tribunal acknowledged that the Republic of Kosovo had been unjustly enriched by payments made by Mabco for the purchase of shares in Grand Hotel, without granting ownership of those shares. The ruling represents a significant correction of a longstanding injustice and a major development in international investment arbitration.

INLEX Advises Banka Ekonomike on Major Banking Sector Acquisition

INLEX Law Firm acted as legal advisor to Banka Ekonomike Sh.A. in connection with the acquisition of the assets and liabilities of Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş., Branch in Kosovo. The transaction represents one of the most significant and legally complex acquisitions in Kosovo’s banking sector to date. INLEX provided comprehensive legal support throughout the transaction, including the drafting and structuring of the asset and liability transfer agreement, as well as advising on compliance with applicable Kosovo legislation. Banka Ekonomike Sh.A., one of Kosovo’s leading financial institutions, further strengthened its market position through this acquisition, expanding its presence and service capacity within the sector. This transaction marks the second consecutive merger and acquisition successfully concluded by INLEX, following the acquisition of “Shtëpia Botuese Libri Shkollor” Sh.P.K. by “Dukagjini” Sh.P.K., in which the firm also provided full legal advisory services. The INLEX team on this matter was led by Attorneys at Law Shkumbin Asllani and Edita Ismaili, working in close coordination with Banka Ekonomike and other advisors involved in the transaction.
